Sutter Street

ALEXIS FLOYD

Subject & Student

Tim is a pleasure to work with, he’s accommodating and pays great attention to detail. It made the shoot feel very authentic and natural. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable for me to get my picture taken but Tim has this ability to really connect with his subjects, so our conversations made me feel confident. I’m very pleased with the outcome of the project. It’s so rewarding to see it come to life. Although I had difficulties finding a suitable location, Tim was very flexible and had some great suggestions. Working together was seamless. I felt comfortable and confident. It’s always an advantage when the artist has a great attitude and Tim really made the experience fun. Communication was always clear and I felt heard and respected throughout the process. We had a lot of fun and I’m so pleased with the results.”

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In the Fall of 2022 I started to photograph my little world on Sutter Street in San Francisco, CA. I walk to our school in the darkness of the morning and walk back home in the darkness as well. Tourists, workers, street inhabitants sleeping in tents, this walk on Sutter Street delivers a particular slice of living history and a very urgent present. The life in our school is now vibrant in our post-Covid culture with students and faculty working in studios and full blown art openings. All of these things seem at once familiar and celebratory, but tinged by the awareness that these joys can be fleeting and temporary. I’m trying to capture this moment in time and share all the beautiful characters that inhabit it.
